Miranda Lambert Triumphs At Country Music Awards; See Full List Of Winners
Miranda Lambert had a very special 27th birthday at the 44th annual Country Music Association Awards in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday - she took home Song, Video and Album of the Year honors and was named Female Vocalist of the Year.
Her fiance Blake Shelton was also a big winner, claiming the Male Vocalist and Musical Event of the Year awards.
Lady Antebellum were the only other multiple winners, picking up accolades for Vocal Group and Single of the Year, and it was a huge night for event co-host Brad Paisley, who claimed the Entertainer of the Year prize.
Lambert, who was nominated for a record-breaking nine awards, also performed twice - belting out her hit "That's The Way That The World Goes Round" and then teaming up with Sheryl Crow for a tribute to legendary Loretta Lynn, which was introduced by Sissy Spacek who played Lynn in 1980 biopic "Coal Miner's Daughter."
Lynn, who won the first Female Vocalist of the Year award in 1967, then joined Spacek to present this year's prize to Lambert.
George Strait, Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift, Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum and Kenny Chesney were also among the performers, and the night's big collaborations included a duet between Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson.
But the event's highlights came from Reba McEntire, who delivered a country rendition of Beyonce's "If I Were A Boy," and Gwyneth Paltrow, who hit the stage with Vince Gill to belt out the theme to her new movie "Country Strong," in which she plays country singer Tim McGraw's alcoholic wife. It marked the Oscar winner's first major live performance and earned her a standing ovation at the Bridgestone Arena.
The event was co-hosted by Paisley and Carrie Underwood, who teamed up with Keith Urban to get the ceremony off to a rousing start with a rocking rendition of Underwood's Songs Like This.
