Paramount just released the first pictures of "Captain America: The First Avenger," revealing a shirtless Chris Evans, obviously a gift for the female fan base, and some other great WWII set adventure pics. For those not familiar with the Marvel Comic and plot, here are the basics of the storyline:

Deemed unfit for military service, a once-meek U.S. soldier-turned-hero, (Chris Evans) gains strength and agility far beyond that of a normal human being after taking an experimental super-serum. The research project turns him into Captain America, a superhero dedicated to defending America's ideals.

Other cast includes: Richard Armitage (Heinz Kruger), Hugo Weaving (The Red Skull) Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) Stanley Tucci (Abraham Erskine), Tommy Lee Jones (Col. Chester Phillips) Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter) and more.
