"Jackass 3D" star Chris Pontius always ends up in a mental institute whenever he's arrested - because police officers who don't recognize him assume he's mad.

The crazed stuntman has found himself on the wrong side of the law a few times - and was once cited for being drunk and disorderly in public when cops found him passed out, naked on a car in Miami, Florida.

He says, "I had to be sprayed with some red stuff and, God, it hurt... They didn't even take me to jail - they took me to the mental hospital like (character) Murdock on "The A-Team"... But being crazy isn't a crime."

Jackass castmate Johnny Knoxville cracks, "He's like, 'Everytime they arrest me, they take me to the psych ward, they always take me to the psych ward.'"
