British funnyman Russell Brand was detained by U.S. immigration officials in the early hours of Tuesday morning after he flew into New York for a promotional appearance.
The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star jetted from London to the Big Apple straight after the British premiere of his latest movie Despicable Me on Monday night ahead of a planned appearance on Howard Stern's radio show on Tuesday morning.
However, his journey was delayed after he landed - the comic was held by immigration officials and questioned before he was granted entry into the U.S. Brand used his time in detention to update his Twitter.com page to tell fans about his dilemma, writing, "Held in US immigration. Little do they know I'm singing God Save The Queen in my head."
U.S. Immigration officials reportedly launched an investigation into the star last month after he was arrested in Los Angeles and charged with battery following an alleged clash with a photographer at the airport.
However, Brand is likely to escape further punishment over the incident and will reportedly receive a reprimand from a judge at a hearing in L.A. next month.
