Solomon BurkeLegendary soul singer Solomon Burke died at an airport in Amsterdam, Holland on Sunday. He was 70.

The "Everybody Needs Somebody To Love" hitmaker was set to play a gig in the city on Tuesday, but was pronounced dead at the Schiphol Airport. No further details of his death have been released at press time.

A former preacher, Burke signed to the same record label as Ray Charles in the 1960s and had his first hit with a country song, "Just Out Of Reach."

However his most famous tracks were "Cry To Me," which was used in "Dirty Dancing," and the ever-popular "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love," which was memorably performed by Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi 1980's film "The Blues Brothers."

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and picked up a Grammy in 2003.

Burke is survived by 21 children and 90 grandchildren.
