Sarah Murdoch Apologizes Over 'Top Model' Blunder (Video)
Model/actress Sarah Murdoch was forced to make an awkward apology during the live finale of hit TV show Australia's Next Top Model after she read out the wrong name when announcing the winner.
The blonde beauty, who appeared in hit sitcom Friends and 2001 movie Head Over Heels with Freddie Prinze, Jr., concluded the talent series by congratulating Kelsey Martinovich on her victory. But during Martinovich's acceptance speech, producers informed the host of her mistake and she was forced to interrupt and reveal the real winner.
Murdoch looked visibly upset as she apologized for the mishap and informed Amanda Ware she had come out on top. Jamie Campbell, the show's director of publicity, says, "In the heat of the moment on live TV, with 2,000 people in the audience, Kelsey's name was read out. And it was just the wrong name."
Runner-up Martinovich, who was offered a cash prize and a holiday to New York as compensation, insists there are no hard feelings. She adds, "I just looked at Sarah and realized there'd been a big mistake and felt like I needed to give her a big hug or something."
