Outspoken rocker Morrissey is at the center of another racism controversy following remarks he made about the Chinese in a recent interview.

The former Smiths singer called the Chinese a "subspecies" in a recent interview with Britain's Guardian Weekend magazine, as he attempted to put his feelings about the country's animal rights atrocities into words.

He asked interviewer Simon Armitage, "Did you see the thing on the news about their treatment of animals and animal welfare? Absolutely horrific. You can't help but feel that the Chinese are a subspecies."

His comments have upset anti-racism leaders, who have confronted the singer/songwriter about his remarks in the past.

Love Music Hate Racism campaign spokesman Martin Smith says, "It really is just crude racism. When you start using language like subspecies, you are entering into dark and murky water."

The "Every Day is Like Sunday" singer first sparked controversy among anti-racists by releasing questionable songs like "Bengali in Platforms" and "National Front Disco." He also upset many fans when he started using nationalistic and skinhead imagery on stage at concerts in the early 1990s.
