Angelina JolieAngelina Jolie has flown to Pakistan as part of her duties as a United Nations (U.N.) ambassador to visit victims of the country's devastating floods.

The Tomb Raider star has already handed over $100,000 of her own money to help those worst affected by the disaster.  U.N. officials have confirmed she arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday  to speak with refugees who have been displaced by the floodwaters - and the star hopes the publicity around her visit will boost aid efforts.

She told reporters, "I am very moved by them and I hope that I am able to, today and tomorrow, be able to do something to help bring attention to the situation for all of the people in need in Pakistan."

More than 1,500 people have been killed after torrential downpours caused the worst flooding in the country for a century.
