Rod Blagojevich Convicted Of Lying To The FBI
Politician-turned-reality TV star Rod Blagojevich has been convicted of lying to the FBI.
The former Illinois Governor and "Celebrity Apprentice" star was charged with bribery, extortion and conspiracy among other counts, but he was found guilty on only one of 24 counts on Tuesday after a jury deliberated for 14 days.
Blagojevich was arrested in December, 2008 and charged with attempts to commit mail and wire fraud and solicitation of bribery. Lawmakers alleged that he took part in a scheme to "auction off" President Barack Obama's vacated United States Senate seat to the highest bidder.
The judge in the case is expected to rule a mistrial after the jury members were hung on 23 counts.
Experts expect federal government officials to retry the case and the judge will announce a date for proceedings next week.
