George ClooneyGeorge Clooney's tireless humanitarian work has been rewarded - the actor is to be honored with a life-long membership for America's Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).

The actor has long been lauded for his overseas charity work - he teamed up with his Ocean's Eleven co-stars to launch the Not On Our Watch organization in 2007, which has helped victims of many disasters including the genocide in Darfur, Sudan and the cyclone in Burma. He also spearheaded Hope For Haiti Now, the star-studded telethon to raise funds for the Caribbean country after it was hit by a devastating earthquake earlier this year.

In addition to this, Clooney is a United Nations goodwill ambassador - and now he's got another title to add to his name. The movie star has been honored by the CFR, which is dedicated to improving the understanding of U.S. foreign policy and international affairs - and Clooney is thrilled with the recognition.

He says, "I look forward to participating in the work and programs of the Council on Foreign Relations. And I hear the initiation ritual is wild."
