Mighty Morphin Power RangersThe "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" have been saved a year after TV bosses at Disney decided to drop the children's action series.

The 17th season of the show, which began in March 2009, was to be the last - but the media mogul who launched the "Power Rangers" franchise in the 1990s is planning to relaunch the series.

Haim Saban has bought back the rights to "Power Rangers" from Disney bosses, who took control of the property in 2001.

Saban has also reportedly signed a new TV deal with Nickelodeon and plans to air 20 new episodes, as well as the re-runs of more than 700 episodes, which have run to date.

"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" debuted in 1993.
