Kelis is so desperate to make her divorce from Nas official she has filed legal papers asking a judge to terminate the pair's marriage "as soon as possible."
 
The Milkshake hit-maker has been embroiled in a bitter battle with her estranged husband, real name Nasir Jones, since she filed for divorce last year, just months before the birth of their first son Knight in July.

Nas was hauled into court earlier this month when a Los Angeles judge ordered him to hand over more than $290,000 in late child and spousal support payments, in addition to covering Kelis' legal and accounting bills.
 
The former couple is still working on thrashing out the rest of its divorce settlement, but Kelis is desperately trying to end the union.
 
In papers she filed last week, which have been obtained by TMZ.com, Kelis declared it would be "in the best interest of both of us if our marital status is terminated as soon as possible."

She adds, "I believe there is no possibility of reconciliation with (Nas)."
