Big StarBig Star's showcase at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, on Saturday night will go on as planned, despite the death of bandmate Alex Chilton.

The cult band's Jody Stephens admits he and fellow Big Star members Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer have been left "numb" after learning of Chilton's death on Wednesday, but the group plans to play on.

The group will gather with original Big Star bassist Andy Hummel for a panel discussion at the Austin Convention Center on Saturday afternoon before performing at Austin's Antone's hours later.

M. Ward, John Doe, and R.E.M.'s Mike Mills have signed up to join in the Big Star show, which is now likely to be a tribute show for Chilton.
