Rip Torn, Rip Torn arrestActor Rip Torn will enter an alcohol rehabilitation facility this week after allegedly breaking into a Connecticut bank with a loaded gun while drunk on Friday.

The "Men in Black" star, real name Elmore Rual Torn, was arrested after police found him sprawled out on the floor of the Litchfield Bancorp building clutching a loaded revolver.

The actor, who was reportedly two-and-a-half times over the legal alcohol limit at the time of his arrest, was charged with a string of offenses, including carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief.

According to the police report, obtained by TMZ.com, Torn appeared "highly disoriented" inside the bank and kept asking cops why they took him out of his house.

He appeared before a judge on Monday and posted $100,000 bail. He did not enter a plea.

Torn's defense attorney, A. Thomas Waterfall, claims the actor plans to plead not guilty to the charges, insisting he never brandished his pistol in a threatening manner.

Waterfall told Bantam Superior Court Judge John W. Pickard, "The history here is clear that there's an alcohol issue that needs to be addressed."

The actor will check himself into an alcohol treatment center in New York in an effort to kick his drinking problem before he is due back in court on February 17.

Torn has previously been in trouble with the law over alcohol-related offenses, including a driving under the influence (DUI) arrest in December 2008. On that occasion, he was handed probation and ordered to enroll in an alcohol education program.
