Ugly BettyABC's hit TV show "Ugly Betty" has been canceled. The cult comedy, which had become a global hit, debuted in 2006 and turned Emmy Award-winner America Ferrera into a household name.

But there won't be a fifth season of the show - the program's current fourth season will be its last. "Ugly Betty" will wrap up in April.

In a joint statement, executive producer Silvia Horta and ABC TV executive Steve McPherson announced, "We've mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty’s final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion.

"We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell."

Veteran entertainer Liza Minnelli is set to appear in the series finale in a cameo as an "outrageous drama teacher". Other big names, like Rebecca Romijn, Lindsay Lohan, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and show producer Salma Hayek have appeared on the program, while regulars include Vanessa Williams, Ana Ortiz and Eric Mabius.
