Legendary music producer Quincy Jones
is re-teaming with Lionel Richie
to record an updated version of their star-studded 1985 hit We Are The World
, to benefit Haitian earthquake victims.
The original song, written by Jones and Michael Jackson
, featured Richie, Bruce Springsteen
, Bob Dylan
, Cyndi Lauper
, Billy Joel
and other artists. Proceeds from the single benefited African famine relief.
Co-producers Jones and Richie have reportedly invited Usher
, John Legend
and Natalie Cole
and numerous other performers to record the updated anniversary edition, following last week's devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake.
A music video will accompany the new version.
