Jimmy Jean-LouisHeroes star Jimmy Jean-Louis was filled with relief upon discovering his parents are alive in Haiti after days of desperately trying to contact them following Tuesday's devastating earthquake.

The actor managed to locate his elderly mother on Thursday, who he had not heard from since the massive tremor rocked his native country, and she informed him of his father's well being.

He tells RadarOnline.com, "I spoke to my sister and she said she had been in touch with my mom. I couldn't believe it. She gave me the number and I called her and when she picked up I heard her voice and couldn't believe it. We were both so overwhelmed we couldn't speak. When we finally spoke she told me my father was also alive. Everyone there is in shock they can't believe this has happened. My father spent his entire life building our house and the whole home collapsed. It is very difficult coping with the situation. We still have not spoken to all of my family because it is such chaos and we can't get in touch but I am relieved to know my parents are alive."

Now Jean-Louis is desperate to return to the Caribbean country to help out in ongoing relief efforts.

He adds, "It was not all good news though. Unfortunately we lost a friend from the neighborhood, he didn't make it. Now all I want to do is to go down there to see my family and help."
