'Precious' Named Best Film By African American Critics

Precious"Precious: Based On The Novel 'Push' By Sapphire" has been named Best Picture of 2009 by the African American Film Critics Association. Lee Daniels also claimed the Best Director prize for the film and Mo'nique boosted her Oscar chances by landing a Best Supporting Actress honor.

"Precious" also earned Geoffrey Fletcher a share of the Best Screenplay award with Ron Clements, Rob Edwards and John Musker, who penned "The Princess and the Frog".

Morgan Freeman was named Best Actor for his turn as Nelson Mandela in "Invictus", while Nicole Beharie claimed the Best Actress award for "American Violet".

Michael Jackson was also honored with a posthumous achievement award for "This is It".
