Shakira has conjured up a role on hit kids show Wizards Of Waverly Place - in a role poking fun at herself.

The Whenever, Wherever hit-maker has appeared on the small screen before, starring in Colombian soap opera El Oasis in the 1990s, and she recently played herself on an episode of Ugly Betty.

And Shakira was delighted to be approached to appear on the hit Disney show - despite the mysterious nature of the part.

She tells Access Hollywood, "Shakira doesn't really exist. It's a complicated thing, very creative. I'm actually making fun of myself. I think it's the first time and the last time. I had a great time on set, it was so fun - I'm actually quite funny!"

And she is full of praise for the show's teenage star Selena Gomez, adding: "She's a good, talented artist. She has a great voice... the whole cast made me feel at home. They're great."
