Woods escaped criminal charges following the accident, which landed him in hospital, after he satisfied Florida Highway Patrol officials with relevant information and paid a $164 fine for for careless driving.

Woods was left injured and reportedly unconscious after reversing his SUV into a water hydrant outside his Florida home and then driving into a neighbor's tree.

At a press conference on Tuesday, FHP spokesman Major Cindy Williams said, "The Florida Highway Patrol has concluded its investigation on the vehicle crash involving Mr. Tiger Woods. The investigation has determined that Mr. Woods is at fault in the crash."

Police officials did not be seek information regarding reports Woods was not fit to be behind the wheel of a vehicle at the time of his crash and allegations he and his wife, Elin, had been fighting before the accident.

A spokeswoman stated, "There is insufficient evidence available to issue a subpoena for any additional medical information that might exist in this case... (and) there are no claims of domestic violence by any individual."

But now state lawmakers have stepped into the matter, requesting an investigative subpoena so it can be determined if Woods was impaired at the time of his crash.

According to documents filed last week, the state attorneys office suspect Woods "may have been driving under the influence when he caused the property damage".

The paperwork suggests a witness who pulled Woods out of his crashed car revealed the golfer had been drinking alcohol earlier in the day and he had been prescribed Ambien and painkiller Vicodin.

The subpoena requests blood results from the hospital Woods was taken to after the crash. But reports suggest there were no blood tests taken and the subpoena has already been denied.
