Aaron CarterFallen pop star Aaron Carter is leading a crusade to introduce a new law in that will protect young stars financially, after learning he owes the Internal Revenue Service over $1 million in unpaid taxes.

The singer's agent has blamed the pop star's financial woes on his former management team - insisting Carter was completely "unaware" he owed taxes until the news broke in the press. IRS officials claim Carter has failed to keep up with tax payments since 2003, but he's blaming his ex-advisers for mismanaging his fortune.

And he wants to make sure other young stars don't suffer the way he has.

He tells TV Guide magazine, "I'm working on passing a law to protect young people from their parents, who want to beat the system...Children cannot be held responsible (for their finances). I'm going to use myself as an example."

Carter reveals he's seeking advice from his fellow Dancing With The Stars contestant, politician Tom DeLay, to make sure his proposed child tax bill reaches the right people in power.

The singer fired his manager mother, Jane, in 2003 and then filed for legal emancipation, claiming she stole more than $100,000 from him.

Carter is currently working with a new team of financial experts in a bid to "take appropriate actions toward speedy resolution of the matter."
