Mischa Barton: 'Psychiatric Hold Could Happen To Anyone'
The actress was taken to a mental health facility in Los Angeles in July and placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold after she called cops to her Hollywood home.
Barton has since blamed her heavy work schedule and a botched operation to remove two wisdom teeth for her meltdown, but she's adamant her condition did not warrant such serious action from doctors.
She tells Britain's Heat magazine, "It's something that could happen to anyone - going to the hospital and having a bad experience and then being on a 5150 (involuntary psychiatric hold) - it happens to more people than you'd know. It's a common thing. I didn't know that when I went to the hospital, if they saw you were feeling bad they could just hold you like that, but it's an American thing, I suppose."
"If you say that you're depressed, they hold you for your own good. I was shocked it went so far."
