R&B singer The-Dream has embarked on a vigorous diet and fitness regime in a bid to slim down for his first movie role.

The star has landed an acting role in an as-yet-unknown film and he has been ordered to drop the pounds for the big screen project.

And he hopes to be showing off his new figure by the New Year, in time for the release of his album Love King in early 2010.

In a post on his Twitter.com blog, The-Dream writes, "I am going down to 170 lbs (pounds) for an upcoming film and the release of my third album."
