RihannaRihanna broke her own promise when she reunited with Chris Brown days after he violently beat her up in February - because she had sworn as a youngster never to fall in love with an abusive man after witnessing her own mother's torment.

The Bajan beauty hit the headlines in February when she was brutally attacked by her then-boyfriend following a pre-Grammy party in Los Angeles.

She stunned fans when she was pictured laughing and fooling around with Brown on jet skis at rap mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs' house in Miami, Florida just three weeks later - after appearing to have reconciled with him.

Rihanna ended the relationship for good shortly after the snaps of the pair frolicking in the sea surfaced, insisting it was only then that she realised how her own actions could influence young girls in similar violent situations.

She adds, "When I realised my selfish decision for love could result in some young girl getting killed, I could not be easy with that part."

But Rihanna reveals rekindling her love with Brown went against her own advice, after witnessing her mum Monica suffer at the hands of her abusive father Ronald when she was just a kid.

She explains, "Yeah, (he hit her). On enormous accounts. I wouldn't say it's normal, but it wasn't surprising. At night I wouldn't wanna sleep because I was too afraid it would happen. I would pull away, be beating on my dad's legs, trying to stand in the middle, try to bang glass bottles so they could hear something else and snap out of it.

"She never went to the hospital but he broke her nose one time... Domestic violence is not something that people would ever want people to know, she would hide it in the house. I would always say I would never date someone like that, never."
