'America's Next Top Model': The Girls Learn To Pose While Deep In The Pacific Ocean

America's Next Top ModelThis week, America's Next Top Model explored the deep blue sea with some water related activities. The girls had a few fun encounters before venturing under the sea. It was Laura's birthday, so everyone helped to throw her a nice little birthday bash. Self-centered Erin wanted the attention focused on her and her cupcakes. But, other than that, it seemed like everyone had a nice time celebrating. Nicole was a party-pooper and called it a night early to be rested for the next day's challenge.

Marisa Miller also stopped by to teach the girls about the important tricks of modeling in a bikini. She told them that models need be aware of their curves and aware of their audience. Miller also pointed out that pretending to have a "Barbie" toe worked well for shorter models when barefoot. She had the potential models practice posing, rolling around in the sand, and then attempting to sexily pose in the shower. It was a little too much like a soft-core porn shoot, but it was amusing. The producers of reality shows make their contestants do some ridiculous things. It is not beneath Top Model to make their models look ridiculous…remember the meat bikinis a few cycles back?

So, the girls had to take their knowledge from Miller's lecture and apply it to a photo shoot challenge. The girls had to jump off a cliff and attempt to look sexy and graceful while doing it! Laura volunteered to go first, since it was her birthday and all, and didn't do too bad. Nigel Barker and Miller critiqued the each one of the girls. They said Laura lost her face a bit in the jump. Erin did not look graceful. Nigel said she pulled a cheerleading type move that wasn't appealing. Jennifer looked too scared. Sundai's look was good, but ended up getting too much water in her ear and somewhat hurting herself. Nicole used Miller's technique of turning to the side and ended up winning the challenge. She won a $5000 necklace, and received extra frames in her photo shoot.

This week, it was a domino effect with the challenge winner. Nicole got to pick a friend to get more frames, and this continued until only one person did not receive extra frames for their shoot this week. Erin, the least liked out of the bunch, did not end up getting picked (for obvious reasons) and complained about it the rest of the time.

The photo shoot this week was under water. The girls were sent down deep in the water and asked to pose gracefully again. Jennifer came away with the best picture this week; well, to everyone except Marisa Miller who thought her photo was too erect. What's with this girl and double entendres? Nigel described her photo as model-esque with a hint of fantasy.

Nicole, again, came away with a stunning photo. Her drawback this week was her non pointed toes. She should have remembered to look like Barbie, as Marisa Miller said. Otherwise, she worked with the light well and her face looked good.

Laura originally hyperventilated under water. She was very nervous about the challenge, but pushed through and got a pretty good photo. The judges said her face was in the shadows, but I think it was just fine. Laura is too much of a likable person, which unfortunately means she probably won't win this competition. She is someone who I'd like to meet though.

This left Sundai and Erin (again) in the bottom two. Sundai made a lot of excuses this week; asthma, her ear hurting from the cliff challenge, etc. But, the judges seemed to like her photo. They said she looked tall and had a good, but obvious pose. All of these comments made it even more shocking when Sundai was eliminated. Erin, who was in the bottom two for the third week in a row, was saved by the judges, yet again. It was a teary goodbye from the remaining contestants.

There are only two episodes left until the finale this season, and next week is a double elimination. Time is running out for these petite model
