I do not take her opinion very seriously but I have noticed if you have not been watching the entire season the characters are hard to grasp. You have to understand Pierce, Troy, and Abed to get their very strange, very immature, and senseless jokes.
I think the writers do not give the occasional viewer a chance to fully grasp what each character is about and that leaves the viewer confused and uncomfortable. I do not think Community is a hard plot to follow but that might be a reason why the ratings have been slow out of the gate.
This week Troy and Annie were studying (flirting) for an Astronomy course when Jeff interrupts their study session with an idea for Troy to play football again. Troy says he misses playing the sport he loves, being the big man on campus, and being relevant to the school.
Jeff, always with an underlying motive, wants Troy to play football because the Dean has been passing around Greendale flyers with Jeff's face on them and the Dean will continue to pass them around unless Troy joins the football team.
It did not take long for Jeff to manipulate the former dumb jock to join the squad of misfits and it came much to the chagrin of Annie, who has become infatuated with Troy's new found intelligence.
Annie is now frustrated with Troy and thinks he will become less intelligent because he will think about football too much. Annie is right on the money as Troy re-falls in love with himself, knocking books out of the nerds' hands, stealing sodas, referring to himself in the third person, and singing silly shamefully outdated politically correct high school fight raps (as Annie says).
He showed up to the Astronomy study session an hour late and was not worried at all because, "the class blows." I think I like Troy as the hyper dumb jock and not the dull astute character he normally is.
In between Troy and Jeff running around campus, Shirley helped Britta with her girl bathroom talk etiquette, and it worked. Annie was obviously having guy problems and she asked Shirley to go to the bathroom with her but Britta came instead and made her feel better. Shirley was so happy for everyone involved including herself because she looked at Britta as her pupil.

It was a kidnapped student in what looked like a green man jump suit from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but colored gray. The student could not talk because his mouth was taped shut, could not hear, and could not see, and I think it was Abed.
I watched this episode a few times and the more I watched it the funnier it was. I wish more people would give this show a chance because it is a lot better than 90% of the shows out there including ones that win awards. I'm talking to you Charlie Sheen, Neil Patrick Harris, and you CBS fans.
