Funnyman Dave Chappelle
failed in his attempt to set a new record for comedy endurance - by walking offstage during his performance to go to the bathroom.
The comic took the stage at Hollywood's Laugh Factory
on Sunday in a bid to break the club record for the longest time on stage, previously set by Dane Cook
in a seven-hour, 34-minute marathon last year.
However, Chappelle's attempt to outdo Cook failed after five hours when he was disqualified by owner Jamie Masada for taking a bathroom break.
The original record was set by the late Richard Pryor
who spent two hours and 41 minutes on stage in 1980. Chappelle previously recorded a time of six hours before Cook's triumph in 2008.
