'The Vampire Diaries' Recap: 'Lost Girls'
This episode excelled because the series finally reached a turning point. Stefan admitted to Elena that he was a vampire and he wanted her to keep his secret. Elena took it very well, considering she didn't run at him with a stake. Stefan explained this series vampire rules to her, and she found out crosses, holy water and garlic were nothing to Stefan. He also told her the ring let him go out in daylight. Stefan stopped dropping clues about Katherine and explained how he became a vampire to Elena while the viewers got to watch. Katherine turned Damon and Stefan, but tried to keep them both from finding out about the other. Stefan didn't explain how Katherine died, so there was still the question of whether or not he killed her or Damon did.
As for Damon, he half-turned Vicki into a vampire after letting her drink his blood and then snapping her neck. Vicki still didn't understand so she went over to Jeremy's house and Stefan realized she was halfway dead.
The adults of Mystic Falls made their first strike and failed, with Aunt Jenna's ex Logan becoming the turning point for Vicki. She drank his blood, which allowed her to turn into a vampire. Damon saved Stefan from Logan's wooden bullets, and the brothers now know that at least one person knew there were vampires in town.
Elena broke up with Stefan, leaving herself open to more attacks by Damon. She told Stefan she didn't want to tell others about him, but she also didn't want to date him. The episode still left a lot of unsolved questions about Katherine, but at least we learned she was the maker of both boys. We also learned how to make a vampire and that wooden bullets could be deadly to them on this series. Damon might have saved Stefan from Logan, but what is he going to do with the watch he snatched up? The series is on a break until October 29, before returning with a Halloween-themed episode.
