Cute Pics Of The Day: Richard Gere & Puppy On The Red Carpet In Rome

Richard Gere poses with a dog on the red carpet to present the movie "Hachiko: A Dog's Story" at the Rome Film Festival in Rome today. See more photos after the jump.
Gere said that he "cried like a baby" when he read the script of his new movie, a remake based on a cherished Japanese story about a faithful dog that died at a train station waiting for its owner. Gere stars as the college professor who finds the abandoned dog and takes the poor lost animal in. The film follows the two as the man and animal soon form a strong and unexplainable bond.
Gere also stars in the upcoming "Amelia," tracing the life of famed aviator Amelia Earhart - who made history in 1932 by becoming the first woman ever to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
