HeroesSylar came out of the ground, zombie-style after being shot last week. This week he's found by a police officer wandering down the road, disoriented and staggering. The officer asks if he's had too much too drink until he sees the blood-stained shirt. Then he tells Sylar to put his hands up as he draws a gun on Sylar.

Sullivan makes a big pronouncement to his clan at the breakfast table. He claims they will fill their vacant seat by supper time. Claire sits in the cafeteria of her college enjoying her chocolate milk with her new roommate, Gretchen. A girl named Becky, approaches Claire about Rush and joining the sorority that her Mom was in back when she went to college. Gretchen tries to talk her out of going. Instead Claire talks Gretchen into going with her.

Dr. Madeline Gibson comes in to evaluate Sylar. The doctor is fresh out of school and she actually wants to help Sylar. The cop just wants her to get out her stamp and mark him "insane." She educates him that they don't hand out stamps. She works with Sylar to calm him and help him remember what happened to him. Sylar remembers being in the woods and walking and then ending up in the tiny room in hand-cuffs. She tells the cop to leave her the keys on his way out. Once the officer is out of the room she removes the cuffs, offers Sylar some tea and promises to help him.

Meanwhile, Emma's Mom tries to convince her daughter that she might be experiencing "hysterical blindness." She tries to convince her daughter that it's not good for her to hide out in the file room. She says she'd make a wonderful doctor if she'd just go back to her residency. She tries to tell Emma that someone named Christopher's death wasn't her fault, it's been six years and it's time to stop grieving and move on with her life. Emma gets upset and leaves.

Peter is making an attempt to reconnect with his family. Angela sits at his table sipping coffee and thinking about Nathan. She ignores everything Peter is saying and continues to ask if Peter has talked to Nathan or seen him until Peter has to leave for work.

Claire and Gretchen go on a "speed-dating" experience to help the sorority sisters get to know them. Claire answers round after round of questions about her life. She begins to hear things about herself from the girls. Gretchen has been talking about her non-stop. Claire becomes agitated by the invasion of privacy.

Meanwhile Emma makes her way down the street still upset over the fight with her Mom. She sees sounds as colors on the street and becomes distracted by the colors of a jack-hammer. So much so that she backs into traffic and almost gets hit by a bus, but Peter swooshes in at the last minute and saves her. He realizes moments later, after Emma walks hurriedly away from him, that she has a power. He tries to speed away but can't. In frustration he kicks a garbage can. The colors of the sound radiate from the metal can. Later, at the hospital, Peter is drawn to the sound of children singing the theme to the now canceled hit TV show "Greatest American Hero." He sees Emma seeing colors too. They confirm with one another that they are both seeing the colors and have a private chat. Peter tells her there are others who have powers and can do all sorts of things. She's overwhelmed. They sit down at a piano and play a little tune so they can watch the pretty colors. Peter must be ticked off that he saved this woman's life and traded his speed power for this lame color seeing sound power. At least he got a date out of it. Well sort of but then he blows it. Emma agrees to get together some time with Peter until he mentions that it will be good to get her out of the file room. She gets offended and leaves. Peter is way out of practice. Later Emma is upset about the Christopher person so she returns to her apartment, picks up her cello (this is why she was able to play in the park in a previous episode) and plays with passion. She plays with so much passion that she sends a bolt of sound wave color energy up the wall and cracks it. Let's see her explain that one to her landlord. She won't be getting her security deposit back. Later Peter is in his apartment beating himself up for his failed attempt at human interaction when he notices Hiro standing in his dining room. Hiro collapses into Peter's arms.

Claire and Gretchen prepare to go to a sorority mixer. Gretchen borrows Claire's sweater without asking. When Gretchen goes to the bathroom a book falls off of Gretchen's desk which causes Claire to look at Gretchen's computer screen as she goes to pick up the book. Claire sees her face on a webpage on the screen. She clicks on all of the pages and they're all about her. Claire decides to keep what she saw a secret and keep an eye on her stalker roommate. Claire tells Gretchen to go ahead of her to the mixer. When Claire arrives she begins to chat with another member of the sorority about cheerleading and how boring they think football is and how they both quit on cheerleading. In the middle of their conversation a flag attached to the pointy end of the pole comes flying down from the floor above them, ready to hit Claire in the head. Claire pushes the girl she was talking to out of the way and backs up just in time. The pointy end of the pole drives itself into the floor right in front of Claire. Claire looks up and sees Gretchen peek her head over the balcony. Claire leaves upset and shaken. She returns to her dorm room. Gretchen follows right behind. Claire confronts Gretchen about her behavior. Gretchen is defensive asking why Claire invaded her privacy by snooping on her computer. She doesn't believe that a book just randomly fell off the bookshelf. She also defends herself about the flag incident, saying she had nothing to do with it.

She admits that she has been stalking Claire but only because she's curious about her and wants to know more about her and her past. Claire tries to fight with her but Gretchen's response is foolproof, she kisses Claire, full-on, deep and mushy. Claire is stunned silent. Works like a charm. Gretchen admits to "crushing on" Claire. Just as Claire is about to regain the power of speech the sorority sisters bust into the room holding candles in a scene right out of the short film, "Ballsy." Becky is there, holding pins, offering both girls the opportunity to become sorority sisters. The girls accept, take their pins, light their candles and proceed down the halls to pick up more sisters. Sullivan summons Becky, the sorority sister, to his carnival. She is invisible and able to teleport. She appears after Sullivan throws a rag on her and it stops in mid-air. "Uncle Samuel" asks for a progress report of his niece, Rebecca. He asks if she's been isolating Claire, making her paranoid, pushing. Becky says all she's been doing is pushing lately. A flashback montage ensues in which Becky is seen pushing Claire's roommate out of the dorm room window, pushing a book off of Gretchen's desk so Claire will look at the computer screen, pushing the flag off the flag pole and down onto Claire. She has been invisible and able to teleport into any space she wants to then pop out again. She's pushing Claire in a direction, we just don't know which one.

Lydia chastises Sullivan on making proclamations based on hunches. Sullivan says that he's planted many seeds. They have many cousins out in the world who have yet to come home. They just have to wait and see who shows up for dinner.

Sylar talks to the doctor. He is tasting tea as if it's for Madeline says it's common among amnesia victims and it's a good sign. Sylar has been identified while talking to the doctor. The cop makes Madeline leave and tries to interrogate Sylar. He accuses Sylar of murdering his mother. Sylar denies that his name is Gabriel and denies that he murdered his mother. The cop turns off the camera and tries to put handcuffs on Sylar. Sylar freaks out and puts his hands up to defend himself causing the cop to go flying through the two-way mirror. Sylar takes this opportunity to escape. He catches up with Madeline and begs her for help, reminding her that she promised to help him. She allows him into her car and they start driving. Somewhere down the road Madeline convinces Sylar to turn himself in, saying she knows he's not a killer. He tries to turn himself in but his powers manifest again and lighting starts to come out of his hands. The cops shoot him, he falls onto Madeline and they tumble down the hill together. When they get up Sylar lifts up his shirt and both Sylar and Madeline watch as the bullets are pushed out of Sylar's body and his wounds heal spontaneously. It's amazing that this Sylar losing his memory bit actually doesn't get old. Madeline tells Sylar to run. He does. The cops chase after him. Sylar comes to a clearing in the woods and sees a carnival and Sullivan standing in front of the entrance. He stands with his arms wide open and welcomes Sylar into the carnival. Sylar looks around, hears the barking of the dogs and decides to follow Sullivan. Sylar asks Sullivan where he is. Sullivan answers, "Home." Looks like Sullivan made good on his promise. Now we know who's coming to dinner and he might be more than they bargained for.

Next week Sullivan helps Sylar develop his powers and put the pieces of his life together again. Hiro is in the hospital dealing with his brain tumor. He thinks there's no hope of a cure but Peter feels like there might be and asks Hiro to wait and see. And there's the certain issue of that kiss between Gretchen and Claire to deal with. We'll see if Claire decides to "experiment." This show really is better with more mystery. We must admit that not knowing where the storyline is going, not knowing why this carnival crew wants to recruit people with powers or which person they're targeting is interesting. It seems with "Heroes" the less we know about the storyline the better we feel about watching it unfold.
