Mel Gibson Clears DUI Charge From Record
The Braveheart actor was arrested in July 2006 after getting behind the wheel while intoxicated. He was subsequently sentenced to three years' probation on a misdemeanor driving under the influence (DUI) charge.
The star filed legal papers in September, asking a judge to expunge the DUI from his record because he has completed the terms of his probation. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Lawrence Mira signed off on the request on Tuesday.
Gibson successfully attended a 12-step program for 11 months, underwent an alcohol abuse education course, and also handed over his driver's license for 90 days as part of his rehabilitation.
