Sick Backstreet Boys star Brian Littrell has taken to the Internet to apologize to fans for missing an autograph signing due to swine flu. The singer has contracted the virus known as H1N1, and his fellow bandmates have been screened for the illness.

Their handlers felt it best that the Hard Rock Cafe appearance in New York's Times Square on Monday was called off.

In a video posted on YouTube.com, an upset Littrell sniffs, "The Backstreet Boys had a great event set up for this afternoon... where we were gonna get the chance to mingle with some of our fans, as well as raise money for breast cancer awareness. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with the swine flu yesterday (Sunday) and my job right now is to stay away from as many people as I can. The guys (bandmates) have been looked at by a doctor and they're also on preventative medicine."

The pop star admits he'll be "out of the loop" for three to four days.
