Singer/actress Selena Gomez aims to raise $1 million for the United Nations Children's Fund by the end of 2009.

The Disney star was appointed an ambassador for the charity last month after lending her support to UNICEF in 2008.

And Gomez hopes to use her celebrity to boost donations to the organization, which raises awareness for issues such as children's rights.

She says, "I'm working with UNICEF and this year my goal is to raise $1 million with them to help the kids."
