actress Kirstie Alley
is one star not supporting filmmaker Roman Polanski
as he battles extradition to the U.S. to face sentencing for a 32-year-old sex crime.
director, who fled America in 1978 on the eve of sentencing, has lived in exile in France for 30 years, but he was caught out while attending a film festival in Zurich on Saturday. Swiss police took him into custody and plan to send Polanski back to the U.S., where he faces sentencing after pleading guilty to unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl.
, Penelope Cruz
and Harvey Weinstein
are among the celebrities insisting the officials release Polanski, but Alley doesn't share their thoughts. Even though the teenager the moviemaker had unlawful sex with has since forgiven Polanski, insisting he doesn't deserve a jail sentence, Alley suggests he should face justice.
In a post on her Twitter.
com account, she writes, "JUST FOR THE RECORD... RAPE IS RAPE... This is one Hollywood star who does not CELEBRATE or DEFEND Roman Polanski."
