Bianca's Rough Exterior Leads To Elimination On 'Top Model'
After 13 cycles, America's Next Top Model hasn't changed much. This week the ten remaining girls participated in the standard Cover Girl make-up challenge. The girls had a lesson on how to do their make-up quickly and efficiently, followed by a challenge in Wal-Mart.The models had to race between clothes, shoes and makeup to come up with the perfect outfit and matching look. The catch, however, was that at each station fewer items were available and so some girls were knocked out of the challenge at each station. The other girls got very angry with Erin during the challenge. She grabbed Sundai's arm and supposedly sabotaged Ashley by hiding her photo. It didn't really matter, though, because Erin did not end up winning the challenge. Bianca, Erin and Sundai made it to the end of the race, but Nigel Barker chose Sundai as the challenge winner.
Tyra Banks decided early on this cycle she would be the photographer for the photo shoot. She, again, emphasized that the girls' height would deter them from "regular" modeling and said they should focus on "beauty" modeling, otherwise known as face modeling. In the photo this week, each girl had a scarf on their head. Tyra did decide to change it up a tad and announce the best photo at the end of the day; this also granted that individual immunity from elimination.
Brittany was determined to have the best photo this week. She had a beige scarf covering her face, and that was pretty much the extent of it. The judges didn't really critique it too much, but obviously thought highly of it since she was technically the winner. By having the best photo, Brittany also got to do an impromptu photo shoot with two male models for Tyra's website.
Being called second was surprisingly Jennifer. Jennifer was rather odd and quirky on set. She asked if she could scream while taking her photo. Tyra told her she looked a little horny, but was super impressed with her on-set personality. Nigel told her it was her best shot to date in the competition.
Next was Rae. The judges told her she looked strong and soft at the same time. Her photo did look rather angelic with a very nice close-up of her face. The panel believed that this photo would be successful if it were published right now. Rae has been pretty quiet so far in the competition; this could be her time to shine.
Nicole followed Rae. The judges pointed out what a great contortionist she was. Tyra did point out that her hands looked a little odd in some of her photos; that is something she needs to work on in the future.
Erin was called next. While most of the girls in the competition were angry with Erin for being too aggressive during the challenge, Tyra was upset that Erin didn't show any personality on set during the photo shoot. The judges said her photo was very pretty, even though they also commented that she "looked like an alien, in a good way."
Laura's photo shoot came alive when Tyra blasted her with some wind. The judges said it looks like she was in a Renaissance picture. They seem to have a good laugh at Laura's upbringing. This week at panel Laura wore a dress made by her grandmother, Wanda Sue. Miss J said he would very much like to meet Laura's grandmother. Laura's fun personality might be saving her in this competition since her photos aren't the best.
Challenge-winner Sundai was called next. Her photo was very simple, but pretty. The judges said during deliberation that they need to see more photos like this from Sundai.
Last week's best photo was given to Kara, who came very close to being in the bottom two this week. The judges felt there was something missing in her photos; it seemed like she was not all there. Tyra said she thought she was relying too much on her good DNA and not modeling enough.
All this left Ashley and Bianca in the bottom two. Bianca is no stranger to the bottom two, but Ashley has had good photos before. Tyra really wanted Ashley to be a strong contender since she discovered her in the audience of her talk show, but Ashley wasn't living up to the hype. However, despite three different scarf changes, Ashley managed to escape elimination. Bianca was sent home due to her rough exterior. She left the Top Model house saying she needed to learn how to show her vulnerable side to become a better model. It was pretty obvious that she was going home, though. When the judges said they were fed up with her bad performances, it was pretty much a done deal.
