Madonna to duet with Janet Jackson?
The rumor of the moment is that Madonna and Janet Jackson are teaming up to record a duet with one another. Apparently, the two dancing Queens bonded over dinner after the MTV Video Music Awards and came up with the idea to record a duet in honor of Janet's brother Michael Jackson. Madonna was very impressed with Janet's tribute to Michael and Janet was left in awe by Madonna's tearful speech; at least something good came out of the event. Speaking of Michael, a clip from This Is It-an upcoming film that is compiled of behind-the-scenes footage of Michael preparing for his 50-date gig at London's O2 arena-was released on the net, showing a thin Michael rehearsing his song "Human Nature". This Is It will premiere in theaters Tuesday, October 27, 2009.
Jay-Z defends Kanye West
It turns out that not everyone hates Kanye. Jay-Z stopped by BBC Radio 1 to promote his new album Blueprint 3. Naturally, the topic of Kanye's infamous rant came up, prompting Jay-Z to respond with an answer that caused people to either nod in agreeance or respond with uproar. When asked what his thoughts were regarding Kanye interrupting Taylor Swift's thank you speech, Jay-Z responded by saying that Kanye's actions were rude; however, he feels that the event was blown out of proportion. Jay-Z said that Kanye's outburst was not as serious as people are making it out to be and that no one was physically harmed as a result of his stage crash as made clear when the Brooklyn rapper exclaimed, "he didn't kill anybody". Jay-Z continued by saying that Kanye is a very passionate person and that the same passion that it takes to make classic albums like the Chicago rappers third LP Graduation, is the same passion that causes him to step out of line sometimes. Jay-Z's reasoning is understandable; Kanye is a good friend of his and he may understand Kanye in a way that others may not, however, the fact still remains that the outburst was uncalled for as well as unnecessary. From the looks of it, Beyonce was OK with losing that one award out of the 9 nominations she received that night. Since Jay-Z is an understanding person, maybe he is willing to look past rapper Lil Mama crashing his performance.
Diddy's Last Train to Paris gets pushed back
It appears we are going to have to wait until next year to catch Diddy's Last Train to Paris, because the album has suffered yet another album push back. The music mogul's sixth studio album was originally scheduled for release in September but due to the hype that was Jay-Z's Blueprint 3, Diddy opted to hold off on releasing the album. Last Train to Paris was then slated for a November 24th release which has now changed to a tentative release date set for April 2010. The reason behind the push back is said to be due to contract negotiations. According to the NY Post's Page Six, Diddy might be releasing the album under Interscope Records. Singer Shakira's album She Wolf has also experienced a delayed album release. She Wolf was scheduled for an October 13th release and now it will be released on November 3rd.
Mariah Carey performs on Oprah
Mariah Carey appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show this past week and it is clear to see that she is attempting to recapture her "Vision of Love" days; perhaps she has realized that less is definitely more. While on the show to promote her newest effort Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel that has a due date set for September 29th, the singer graced the stage to perform her song "I Want To Know What Love Is"; which is a cover of English rock band, Foreigner's, 1984 power ballad.
