Lance Reddick stars in the hit FOX series Fringe as Agent Phillip Broyles who is the special agent in charge of the Fringe Division. Fringe is the arm of the government responsible for investigating crimes and science that the average agent or scientist wouldn't be able to grasp. Along the way they uncover things that seem out of this world, spectacular and intriguing beyond a doubt. Lance is not only an extremely talented actor who has been on some of the best television shows of the past decade in the form of The Wire, Oz, Lost and now Fringe, but he is also someone who can keep secrets safer than just about anybody around. Whatever details he knows about Lost and Fringe he plays coy about and reveals only the briefest of matter or nothing at all; and considering the great and suspenseful shows that he's on, it's a very good thing for producers and fans alike.

Eric Stromsvold: I'd like to talk to you today about the upcoming season of Fringe. Season one ended in a pretty spectacular fashion revealing multiple universes and leaving us all wondering just what the heck is going on in the world of Fringe.

Lance Reddick: The rollercoaster ride is going to continue [and] the season premiere opens with a spectacular scene. You wonder how the heck does that have anything to do with how it ended (in season one). Or rather, how did that come from that with Olivia; I don't want to say too much. In this season you find out more about my character and you are also interspersed with traditional Fringe cases. You've got cases that seem to be directly tied to the interaction, or what seems to be upcoming conflict between the two universes.

What changes will be revealed in your character?

You're going to meet my ex-wife. You're going to find out why I got divorced. You're going to find out what my relationship is to Fringe pre-Olivia, John and Peter; and what Fringe's relationship is and has been to the company. As a matter of fact, the very first episode you see that Fringe, the vision, is kind of on shaky ground; and from that episode on the whole way that I run the division is going to be different. It's going to be much more of a shadow ops kind of thing. So you really won't see me in the office at all anymore this season. Mostly meeting clandestinely in parks and walking on the streets with Peter and Olivia. You're going to see me more in the field as well. I'll be doing some running around with a gun, and in the field taking command of some operations.

It seems as though to me that there's a question as to who the real evil is on Fringe. Will the true evil be revealed in this season?

It looks that way to me, so far I think yes and no. More of it will be revealed and it is just going to open more and more questions.

Are you allowed to say whether or not David Robert Jones survived somehow being cut in two while in the portal between the two universes?

The truth is I don't know and it's entirely possible given how crazy things get.

Will there be any new recurring characters to the show?

There is. I'm not sure exactly what they're going to be doing with her, but I know that there is a character that has done at least a couple of episodes, a new FBI Agent and she shows up in the season premiere.

I think a lot of people might be a little bit confused about Peter because at the end of season one it is revealed that he died as a young boy and yet he is obviously there in some capacity. Can you tell us a little about that?

I think it was supposed to be clear but apparently it wasn't crystal clear; Walter went to the other universe and kidnapped that Peter to have his son. So this Peter is actually the other Walter's son.

Does this Peter know that?

No, he has no idea. He has problems with his memory from childhood and he begins to remember things.

Your character seems to know a lot more about everything in the whole world of Fringe that the regular FBI staff and Peter don't. Do you yourself know what's going on long term or do the writers keep that close to their chest?

No, the writers keep that close to their chest. I don't really know what's going on long term.


I was wondering if you have anything else to add about Fringe before we go.

Only that it's going to be really exciting. It seems to be moving in the direction that there's going to be an upcoming conflict between the two universes and there really is the whole question of who is good and who is evil. How do you define that and how do you determine that and also that you'll be seeing more of the observers this season and who and what they are.
