"Jon & Kate Plus 8" star Kate Gosselin is filling in for Elisabeth Hasselbeck on "The View" this week, and she opened up to her co-hosts about her life.

During the Hot Topic segment, Kate defended her decision to keep filming after the media invasion and pending divorce.

She explained, "I could stop and I would still have all of the flack and the lack of a paycheck. I'm a single mom, and now more than ever I need to be out there working hard," Kate said. "My focus is supporting my children and whatever way that [is]... I'm going to do it."

Kate did not reveal her feelings about Jon's relationship with 22-year-old Haily Glassman. She simply called the situation "difficult." She said she was taking the "high road" with topics like that in order to protect her children.
