SupernaturalWhere do you go after starting the apocalypse? Last season's cliffhanger on Supernatural continued with Sam and Dean inside the church after Sam broke the final seal. Instead of showing us Lucifer right away, the brothers were suddenly in a plane flying above the city they were just in. The white light that brought on the devil hit again but this time they were further away. Sam and Dean went to find Carver Edlund, who informed that Castiel was killed by the other angels. Zachariah and the other angels showed up and tried to get Dean to come with them. Zachariah told them that Lucifer was about to take his vessel. Of course Dean and Sam managed to get away, and they hid out in a motel until Carver was able to get a message to them.

In an inspired turn, Carver's message came in the form of the hilarious #1 fan, a woman that had been working on an awkward Sam and Dean story just before he got in touch with her. The same fan delivered Carver's instructions on how to find Michael's sword, while rubbing Sam's chest. He asked her if she could stop and she said no. Since Michael's sword is the only thing that can send Lucifer back to hell, the boys need the sword. Sam's need to apologize to everyone led him to admitting to Bobby he started apocalypse and Bobby was angry enough to cut ties with him. Dean told Bobby where the sword was and Bobby attacked him. Sam showed back up and the boys managed to get rid of this group of demons, led by their old enemy Meg.

At the storage space, Zachariah told the brothers that Dean was Michael's vessel. The angel then tried to get the brothers to agree to help him by force. Just when things looked bad, Castiel showed up. After Castiel killed two angels, Zachariah fixed the brothers up and disappeared. Castiel reminded the brothers again that Lucifer was going to have a vessel soon, so he carved a protection symbol into their ribs by just touching the boys' chests. The symbol is supposed to protect them from all of the angels, including Lucifer. Before the brothers could ask questions, Cas disappeared.

The boys went to see Bobby, and the three agreed to fight the apocalypse the only way they know how, more hunts. Also in this episode, a man named Nick whose family had just been killed was offered a chance for revenge by the devil. Nick agreed to let the devil use his body and Lucifer took over his vessel just before the episode's end.

The episode was heavy on end of days' developments, but Sam and Dean managed to bring the episode back to their family. Dean admitted to Sam he wasn't sure he could ever forgive Sam for choosing a demon over him. Now that we know that Dean is Michael's vessel, we still don't know what happened to Castiel. It looks an old-fashioned hunt is up for the boys in the next episode, with the hunters Ellen, Jo and Rufus all returning.
