Rapper 50 Cent has sparked speculation he is set for a name change after hinting at plans to 'kill off' his stage persona. The "In Da Club" star, real name Curtis Jackson, has been performing professionally as 50 Cent since breaking into the hip-hop industry in the late 1990s, naming himself after 1980s Brooklyn, New York robber Kelvin '50 Cent' Martin.

But the hit maker, who uses his birth name when he's acting, has prompted rumors he's preparing to ditch the moniker and release new records under a different name.

He writes on his Twitter.com page, "50 Cent is a person I created, soon it will be time to destroy him and become somebody else."
