Troubled actor Tom Sizemore has been charged with spousal battery following his arrest for an alleged assault on a woman during a heated argument earlier this month.

The star was arrested and booked on a charge of misdemeanor domestic violence following the late night altercation in Los Angeles on August 5.

He has now been charged with one count of spousal battery, according to TMZ.com. The identity of the woman he is accused of assaulting is still not known. Sizemore faces 12-months jail time and a hefty fine if he is found guilty of the offense.

The star has previously been convicted of beating a woman - he was found guilty of assaulting his then-girlfriend, Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss, in 2003. Sizemore was also arrested in May on an outstanding warrant for drug charges.
