In the season finale of Nurse Jackie, Jackie finally seemed to realize just how much was at stake from her affair with Eddie. When Jackie left her husband Kevin's bar for work, Eddie watched her leave before entering to potentially confront her husband. Eddie talked to Kevin while ignoring Jackie's phone calls, leaving the audience in suspense of what he was planning to do.

Last week, Zoey put a well-known film critic into a coma and was taken off duty for it. At the hospital, Zoey walked around in gray scrubs instead of her usual pink animal print ones to show her remorse. Jackie tried to stall a meeting between Akalitus herself and Zoey, only to have a broken elevator do it for her. Akalitus' claustrophobic meltdown in the elevator may have been played for laughs, but it was Zoey's reaction to the situation that brought a lot of the episode's humor. The film critic woke up and she went back to her pink scrubs. Zoey apologized, but her relief was short when she realized the critic had lost the memories of any film other than Showgirls.

Coop confronted Jackie in the same spot of their original kiss and accused her of breaking her finger to spend time with him. Jackie laughed his affections off only to kiss him again. Coop tried to help Mo-Mo with his boyfriend problems by kissing him in a camera phone picture. When Jackie walked by, Coop accidentally revealed to Mo-mo Jackie was the woman he was fixated on. Coop also was in charge of the week's new patient, a man with his intestines spilling out. But that patient took a lot less of the storyline as season long problems came to the front.

Throughout the episode, Jackie kept trying to get pills out of the Pill-O-Matix with unsatisfying results. Eddie ignored her phone calls and even Dr. O'Hara had no help for her. As for Dr. O'Hara, she had her mother's body sent for from England to find out how she went into a coma.

Jackie promised to be there for O'Hara when the body came.

Eddie then decided to return to the hospital drunk and yelling until Akalitus threatened to call security. Before leaving, he admitted to Jackie that he'd met her husband and been to her husband's bar. Jackie went to the bathroom to panic, leaving O'Hara to cry alone over her mother's body. Jackie came out of the bathroom and went to the Pill-O-Matix, using her own name to get three vials of morphine.

In an empty hospital room, Jackie swallowed all three vials and began to hallucinate her life with her as the perfect nurse and her husband and kids as the perfect family. Back in the real hospital room, Jackie saw a rat crawl across the light fixture.

The cliffhanger left us with several questions about how much Eddie told Kevin, and whether or not anyone's going to find out about Jackie's drug binge. Fortunately the show was picked up for season two, so these unanswered questions will be addressed at some point.
