BranistonFormer couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were the model couple who inspired Bruce Joel Rubin as he was adapting Audrey Niffenegger's book The Time Traveler's Wife.

The screenwriter admits he saw the former man and wife as the perfect Henry and Clare in the movie, which hit cinemas on Friday with Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams in the lead roles.

Ironically, Bana's Troy co-star Pitt is an executive producer of the romantic saga.

Rubin admits, "I saw them (Pitt and Aniston) as Henry and Clare. I just did. They just seemed like a perfect version of Henry and Clare. I just found them equally attractive, equally competing in terms of the Hollywood sort of arena at that moment in time. They were as good a couple as you could find and I thought that I would've loved to have seen them together in a movie."
