The Time Traveler's WifeRachel McAdams made everyone fall in love with her in The Notebook. Now she's back in the love story game with The Time Traveler's Wife. She revealed, in conjunction with the fantastical romance, that these sorts of movies speak to her.

"I confess, I love romance and I think it's really fun and delicious," she said. "Some of my favorite films are love stories. I think you just get a chance to fall in love with a character so much, and you get to explore their lives so deeply. All these intimate moments that you're not privy to in life, like you can't sort of be a fly on the wall to people's relationships. I find relationships so fascinating. Just watching my parents, they've been together so long and they're still so very much in love. I'm in awe of that. I think it's a really interesting case study, to see how people spend their lives together. So that's interesting to me."

In Time Traveler, her husband actually gets to visit his own parents, and his wife before they met. "I really loved that Henry got to know Clare at such a young age, which could have been very dangerous at the same time. He had to be careful what he revealed to her and how he influenced what she became. So I thought that that this is an element I had really never seen before in a love story. Conversely, when Clare shows up in Henry's life and he has no idea who she is and she gets to fill him in, I had never seen that before and I thought that was really exciting."

Were the time travel option available to her, McAdams would continue to fuel her romantic interests. "I would love to see my parents falling in love. I think that's a really cool aspect of the story that Henry gets to go back and see some really interesting things that he would have otherwise missed."

Visiting Clare as a little girl, time traveling Henry sets himself up to be her dream man. Real men don't have that advantage, but McAdams still believes in fate. "I think there's a lot that happens in life that's very serendipitous. I also think you have a little bit of control over what you do so I think it's a blend."

The Time Traveler's Wife opens August 14.
