Mischa Barton is back to work on her new drama series The Beautiful Life after she was allegedly placed under involuntary psychiatric hold at a Los Angeles hospital earlier this month after reportedly suffering a meltdown.

The former O.C. actress is set to play Sonja Stone, a catwalk beauty addicted to pills, on the upcoming TV show on The CW created by Ashton Kutcher, which is scheduled to debut in September.

Her co-star Sara Paxton hit back at reports she's jeopardized her health by returning to work - insisting the actress is doing "great" on set. She told People.com, "We had our first read-through and we're all so very excited to have her back. She's such a great girl. We really didn't talk about everything that's been going on. It was really all work."

Just weeks after refuting reports of a dangerous cocaine binge, Mischa looked healthy, though a bit forlorn, in a glittery silver & gold micro-mini dress with loads of eye makeup.
