Michael Douglas' actor son Cameron was arrested after authorities received a tip off about an alleged cross-country drug deal, according to reports.

Douglas, 30, was taken into custody by federal authorities in New York on Monday after he was apprehended on suspicion of possessing methamphetamines with intent to distribute.

New reports indicate that Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) authorities had organized a bust on Douglas, who was found "very strung out" in a room rented by his father at Manhattan's Hotel Gansevoort when the task force barged in on Tuesday.

The It Runs In The Family star was allegedly in the middle of a deal to move approximately $18,000 of crystal meth from California to New York to sell when an undercover informant alerted the DEA of Douglas' involvement.

A source tells RadarOnline.com, "A DEA informant visited Cam (in New York) to set up a buy - he wanted a large amount of crystal meth... The informant told DEA (Cameron) was strung out and his hotel room at the Gansevoort and was a mess."

Douglas was said to have then promised the informant he could "deliver" the drugs - but they were intercepted.

The source adds, "Douglas called a drug contact and said he was going to ship out the crystal meth. It's unclear if the drugs were being couriered by car or other means but the DEA was able to track the shipment out of Los Angeles."
