British comic Ricky Gervais is prepared to turn his back on acting - to focus on directing.

The funnyman has written and starred in hit comedies The Office and Extras and even cracked Hollywood with his turn in the Night At The Museum movies.

Gervais also directed last year's hit film Ghost Town - and he's tempted to make the move behind the camera permanent.

He says, "I have fallen in love with directing now, almost as much as writing. If I am going to drop one, I would phase out my acting. If you have got the stamina and someone gives you enough money, you can write, direct, act and produce."
