John Travolta has dismissed rumors he has abandoned his Scientology beliefs following the tragic death of his son - insisting he remains dedicated to the faith.

The star and his wife Kelly Preston have long been prominent members of the Scientology community - but Travolta was rumored to have lost faith in the sci-fi religion after his 16-year-old son Jett died suddenly in January after suffering a seizure during a family holiday in the Bahamas.

A representative for the star has slammed claims Travolta has distanced himself from the religion following the tragedy - calling the reports "totally false."

Travolta's spokesman Paul Bloch tells People.com, "There's no change in the relationship between the Church of Scientology and John. He is a member and it's as it was, now and forever."
