Kim Cattrall was left devastated after she uncovered a family secret - her grandfather was a bigamist.

The Sex And The City star was filming for British television show Who Do You Think You Are?, which follows a number of celebrities who trace back their family trees.

However, the actress found out more than she expected when she tried to understand what had happened to her grandfather after he mysteriously disappeared in 1939.

Seventy years ago he walked out on his wife, leaving Cattrall's then-eight-year-old mother and her two other siblings to fend for themselves.

Nevertheless, she was left heartbroken when a newspaper cutting from the 1980s revealed that he was actually a bigamist - he married someone else while still married to her grandmother.
