According to Variety, the Drag Me to Hell director will finish his work on Spider-Man 4, which is set to begin filming next year, before shooting World of Warcraft.
Legendary Pictures and the video game publisher Blizzard Entertainment are working with Warner Bros. to make the film.
World of Warcraft boasts approximately 11 million subscribers worldwide, over half of the Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game market. It has become a pop-culture phenomenon, being featured in a Toyota commercial and a South Park episode. Mr. T, William Shatner, Verne Troyer, and Ozzy Osbourne are among the celebrities that have made commercials for the game.
The game's latest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, sold over 2.8 million copies its first day, and more than 4 million copies its first month of release.
